Got Travel Questions?

We’ve Got You

May 2025

Today, we’re diving into some of the most asked travel questions we’ve received over the years. And let me tell you, we’ve had a lot lately! These past few weeks, we’ve been all in with our new Travel Talks at the Café del Mundo lounge and it’s been amazing. It’s a great little moment where travelers gather, talk travel, share ideas, plan trips, and get inspired. Our goal is simple: to help you have a smoother, more fun, and unforgettable adventure here in Bolivia.

And the more Travel Talks we host, the more questions we get, which we love. Some are funny, some are serious, some are inspiring, and a few totally catch us off guard. But we’re here for all of them. And if we don’t have the answer right away, we’ll find it! There’s no such thing as a dumb question, well, except maybe one. There’s one question I never answer and in this week's podcast, I'll tell you which one and why you'll never get an answer from me. So make sure to tune in!

In this week’s blog and podcast episode, we’re answering travel questions not only from our little question box during Travel Talks at the café, but also from conversations we've had with travelers over the years, on the street, over coffee at Café del Mundo, and even through emails before they arrive! And we have also invited a few travelers right here at Café del Mundo to help us answer some of your questions in the podcast.

And hey,  if your question isn’t here, don’t worry. Just reach out to us anytime. We’re always happy to help

Now Back to the Questions!

Today in the blog post, I’ve divided the questions into three different parts — because they really do change depending on where you are in your travel journey. So let’s go!

Before You Travel to Bolivia
These are the first questions travelers ask when they start dreaming of Bolivia, and I get it. Before you even book your ticket, your mind starts buzzing with thoughts: Is it safe? What should I pack? When should I go? Will I survive the altitude?

This first stage of travel is full of excitement but also filled with practical questions. You’re building confidence, trying to figure out what to expect, and wanting to feel prepared. It’s the moment where dreams start turning into plans, and even though Bolivia isn’t the easiest country to research, that’s part of its charm, it’s still raw, a little wild, and full of surprises.

While You’re in Bolivia
Once you’re here, everything changes. Now it’s no longer about planning,  it’s about living the experience. The questions shift, the energy is diffrent, and every day feels full of new choices!  Where to go, what to eat, what’s happening in the city, and how to make the most of every moment.

This is where our Inspiration Station at Café del Mundo really comes to life. It’s not just a café, it’s a place to recharge, meet fellow travelers, and get fresh ideas for your next steps. We share weekly blog posts, record podcasts, give out free guides, and run Travel Talks to help you discover hidden corners of La Paz and beyond. Our team at Travel del Mundo is always around if you want to plan something spontaneous or dream up the perfect adventure, from day tours to full-on journeys across Bolivia.

When You’re Back Home (But Still Thinking of Bolivia)
Even after you’ve packed your bags and flown home, Bolivia has a way of sticking with you. Maybe it’s a song you heard, a dish you miss, or a memory that pops into your mind when you least expect it. Travelers often stay in touch with us long after their trip is over, asking about the name of that view, that guide, or that perfect little place they forgot to write down.

And we love that. Because travel isn’t just about the trip, it’s about the feeling it leaves behind. That’s why we keep sending out inspiration through our weekly newsletter,  with local stories, upcoming events, travel tips, and one special book recommendation to keep the adventure going. Bolivia isn’t just a place you visit. It’s a place that becomes part of you.

And we’ll be here, before, during, and after, whenever you need us.

We’ve put together a free and super helpful guide with the 10 most asked travel questions we receive every week, both online and in person at Café del Mundo.

This guide is made to help you feel more prepared, more confident, and way more inspired. Whether you’re planning from home or already here with a juice in hand at a local market — this freebie is for you.

Have Questions? We're Here for You!

To wrap things up, here is the real message of today: never stop asking questions! Let your curiosity lead you, not block you. Good questions help you plan your trip your way, without big surprises. Before your trip, ask anything,  it’s how you build confidence. While you’re here, ask locals, guides, your hostel, your café waiter, iit’s how you start to feel a place, not just visit it. And once you’re back home? Keep asking, keep reflecting, because that’s when you realize Bolivia and South America didn’t just pass by. It stayed

And don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter,  it’s where we share weekly travel tips, local news, fun events, special offers, and our Travel Through Pages book of the week. Each book is handpicked to inspire you, help you understand the world a little better, or simply fuel your wanderlust, even when you’re back home. And this week the book is amazing and it completely answers the question, why there is one question I never answer. Listen to the podcast and subscribe!
