Where will your feet be in 2026
december 2025
Hello and welcome back to La Paz and Bolivia. This time of the year there’s always this fun moment when new travel lists pop up, new destinations, cool ideas, and all the places the world says we should explore in the coming year. The other week, the travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller released their “Best Places to Go in 2026,” and Uyuni here in Bolivia made it onto the list, really cool!
Reading all these lists put me in the mood to create my own, a little version that I hope will inspire you for your travel planning for this 2026!
La Paz Lately - This week on the streets, in the cafés, and around the city
Just a few short words from the last days here in the city. We had our Christmas gift donation day, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who was part of it. It truly meant a lot. We’ll share some photos on Instagram very soon, and in our podcast this week I talk a little more about why we do this, what it’s all about, and how being part of a moment like this really reminds you what Christmas is about.
And even if Christmas is almost over, New Year is coming up, with its own traditions and fun moments. In this blog post, you can read about them and also download a small December Bucket List to try a few local traditions while you’re here in La Paz.
On New Year’s Eve, we’ll have our own little previa, a simple warm-up with music, dances, and food. Join us for a while, then head out into the city to welcome the new year from a viewpoint or a traditional bar, with La Paz lighting up in paceño fireworks. More info here!
Places That Stayed With Me
When I sat down to start my list of inspiring places for 2026, I was probably a bit too excited. What I thought would be easy turned out not to be, the world is big, and it’s full of incredible places. At the same time, you can make travel lists about almost anything in this beautiful world. You can list the best food destinations, beaches, party cities, or places that never sleep, and maybe I’ll do that another time. But the lists you’ll find here come from where I am in life right now. They focus on places you don’t just see, but truly feel.
After changing the lists, topics, and destinations more times than I expected, I finally landed on something that feels right. So the lists you’ll find today are built around four themes that made sense for me to create now: big landscapes, cities with a soul, feel-good travel, and places that change you.
They’re about moments that stay with you, not fast stops or ticking boxes. And I hope they inspire you as you start dreaming and planning your travels for 2026.
The Big Landscapes Calling
Let’s start by talking about places with truly amazing nature, because as I said before, nature is something that grabs people from all around the world. It’s often the thing that makes someone choose a destination, that first “wow” moment that stays with you. These are the kinds of places I wish everyone could see at least once, the ones that make you feel something deeper with their incredible beauty.
Cities With a Soul
Some cities don’t just show you their streets, they show you their way of life. They pull you in with food, colors, noise, charm, and those tiny moments that stay with you long after you leave. These are the cities where you feel alive, curious, and a little bit changed after just a few days.
Feel-Good Travel
Some places don’t ask for any big plans, they just give you space. Space to slow down, think a little, warm up, cool down, or simply exist without rushing. These are the destinations that reset you in the best way.
Bye for now
Ok, that was a lot of lists, countries, and traveling, but I hope you got some travel inspo to create your own lists for 2026. And of course, as always, I hope Bolivia is one of them.
Write to our Travel Lab if you have any questions about traveling and exploring around here.
Until then! Happy New Year!
